Myths, Memories, and Monsters: A Generative Workshop

Join our generative writing workshop exploring Latinx cultural mythology through fresh lenses of horror. Inspired by Beast Meridian (Vanessa Angélica Villarreal), Virgin (Analicia Sotelo), and Guillotine (Eduardo C. Corral), we’ll examine surreal imagery, mythic influences, and raw expression.

In a dedicated segment, we unpack Latinx horror folklore—discussing figures like El Chupacabra, El Nahual, Duendes, and La Llorona—and explore themes of loss, transformation, ancestral fear, and generational trauma. Through creative prompts, you’ll craft two pieces that weave these elements with your own lived experience, reimagining traditional tropes into innovative narratives.
